A digital image of Leonardo da Vinci's painting became the first transmission via laser to a satellite in lunar orbit. Lasers offer a more efficient way to 'talk' with spacecraft. The beam traveled ~240,000mi to NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter.
Using data from Hubble, astronomy teacher Josh Lake delivered a stunning image of the bright region (N11) in a satellite galaxy of the Milky Way (LMC). The contrast in glowing gasses was a crucial component in the Hubble's Hidden Treasures win.
