"NGC
1931 is like a small Orion Nebula," says astrophotographer Adam Block, who
captured this image.
NGC 1931 is
located in the constellation of Auriga, about 10,000 light years from earth. It
is just west of M36 star cluster. NGC 1931 is a relatively small, young open
star cluster and reflection nebula, with a core of new white hot stars. In its
center are four stars in a roughly trapezoidal configuration.
The
brightest class OB stars in the heart of the nebula will possess short,
dramatic lives, while the small yellow suns will live on in a cluster and orbit
the galaxy together.
