Thebrilliant midnight launch of NASA?s space shuttle Discovery late Friday broughta false dawn above Florida that was captured in spectacular images by photographers on Earth.

NASAphotographer Jim Grossman caught a snapshot of Discovery rising like a smallstar over its Kennedy Space Center launch site, while another - photographer BenCooper - took a stunning time-lapse photo of the liftoff as it painted a blazingarc across the night sky.
