A lifelong fan of space travel and genre fiction, Neil spent his teenage years making terrible amateur films that were heavily inspired by the likes of "Quantum Leap", "Star Wars" and “Back to the Future". He has subsequently worked for over 25 years as a director of photography on films ranging from the unofficial "Doctor Who" spin-off "Daemos Rising" to the critically acclaimed 2024 "Hamlet" adaptation starring Sir Ian McKellen.

He also served as the showrunner for two seasons of the multi-award-winning short-form fantasy series "Ren: The Girl with the Mark". Based in Cambridge, UK, Neil has written for RedShark News, Doctor Who Magazine, and Infinity, and is a regular contributor to British Cinematographer Magazine.
