Created by lightning, ‘whistlers’ travel along Earth's magnetic field lines from hemisphere to hemisphere. Jupiter’s charged particles ‘sing’ across its magnetosphere (recorded by Voyager). And the University of Iowa’ Injun 3 (NASA Explorer program) recorded chorus waves from electrons spiraling down from Earth’s Van Allen radiation belts.
