Stargate SG-1 – Children of the Gods
(Episode 101 – July 27th, 1997)

Having sat dormant for over a year in a U.S. underground military facility in Cheyenne Mountain, the Stargate suddenly activates, surprising a small group of Air Force personnel assigned to guard it (this is the very first shot done for the series by Rainmaker VFX in Vancouver). Alien soldiers dressed in serpent armor emerge from the open wormhole and kill all the soldiers bar one, a female, who they take with them back through the Stargate. She has been chosen to serve as host for a Goa'uld parasite. Earth has been invaded, and the Stargate program is reactivated in order to deal with this threat. Jack O'Neill is reluctantly coxed out of retirement and given command of the SG-1 team, which includes Air Force Major Samantha Carter (Amanda Tapping), archeologist Dr. Daniel Jackson (portrayed by James Spader in the Stargate movie and now by Michael Shanks) and Teal'c (Christopher Judge), the former First Prime of Apophis (Peter Williams), who joins SG-1 to fight against the Goa'uld in the hopes of one day freeing his people, the Jaffa, from generations of slavery.
