While huge, flat-screen computer
monitors and TVs are all the rage, they still take up wall or desk
space.
And if you're really cramped for room, very private or just
very introverted you might be wishing for head-mounted display.

While
a few different models of these monitor and headphone combos are on
the market, none has been very interactive. Typically, you needed to
go to an expensive arcade to get a true Virtual Reality feeling of having your view
change as your head turns.
Well now if you have a Sony PlayStation 2
-- and live in Japan! -- you soon can watch movies or play games in your own virtual
world using Sony's PUD-J5A display. Weighing 12 ounces (340 grams), and
sized small enough to fit in a desk drawer, it's definitely more compact
than the flattest flat screen.
Of course the game or other media
you're using in your PS2 has to be savvy to 3D environments.
Unfortunately,
Sony's product announcement page currently lists only one game -- a flight simulator.
The PUD-J5A goes on sale September 26 in Japan for about $490
(59,800 Yen).
