Hand cramps and carpal tunnel beware, a new computer "keyboard" is in town,
though it's missing one, if not 104, things, the keys.
The orbiTouch Keyless Keyboard offers ergonomic alternative to typists and computer users logging long hours behind the writing tool. Instead of a standard QWERTY keyboard layout, orbiTouch does away with keys altogether in favor of two sliding domes, each capable of sliding into eight different positions.
Using combinations of dome positions, typists can enter data and even use the built-in mouse without ever moving their fingers or taking their hands from the keyboard. Arm and hand movements replace the use of wrists and fingers during typing and eliminate the movements suspected of causing repetitive strain injury and carpal tunnel syndrome.
Along with the keyless keyboard, orbiTouch comes with a starter disk, a typing tutorial disk to help new users, a user’s guide and a slide guide that depicts the position for each character the orbiTouch can type. The ergonomic keyboard does come with a hefty price tag, although special discount programs are available for students, teachers and therapists.
