If you've been dying to play "Silence of the Lambs" in your basement, now's
your chance. No, we're not talking about the "it puts the lotion in the basket,"
scene.
The Night Owl Explorer from Night Owl Optics is a weather-resistant, compact,
hand-held night vision scope. Like other night vision products, it works by
detecting different degrees of heat as infrared radiation, which is normally
just outside the human range of vision. Converting this to a black & white
image, warm objects appear bright while cool objects appear dim. Ambient air
temperature can interfere though if it's the same temperature as the ground.

The monocular sports a 42mm aperture lens, 3.1x magnification and a built-in
infrared illuminator; the Explorer will help you find your way through the dark
in a wide range of environments and weather conditions. The Titanium model
(pictured) will continue operating between temperatures of -22 F and +113 F.
Perfect for amateur astronomers who don't want to drop their expensive
telescopes on the way to a star party. Or if you're just trying to locate a
pesky moth down in the cellar.
