Got DNA? 'Course you do! Now Keep a Sample Safe and Portable
tech_today_catgee

Most people lug their entire supply of DNA around without thinking, putting all their eggs in one basket – their bodies. However, conscientious folks can now store some DNA away for safekeeping and ensure a record of their existence. And it comes in a nifty tin too.

The home DNA storage kit CATGee takes its name from you, or at least the chemicals that make you you. It abbreviates cytosine, adenine, thymine and guanine, the four chemicals found in deoxyribonucleic acid, also known as DNA.

Collecting your DNA couldn’t be easier. Simply swab the inside of your cheek, then smear the mess on one of the included CATGee cards and the organic code that defines you is transferred into the card’s paper. Once absorbed, put it back in the tin and stow away in a safe place.

The entire kit includes swabs, sterilized pouches and a set of disposable gloves. You could even send your DNA sample back to CATGee and have the DNA converted into its chemical symbols and then screen print your composition onto a t-shirt for the whole world to analyze. And don’t worry, CATGee’s DNA storage method only secures some of your essence, it can’t be used for clone or frame you for a crime.

CATGee: $29.95
