Desktop malcontents, frustrated from being chained to
their workstations, may find freedom in a computer monitor that leaves the
computer behind.
The ViewSonic airpanel V150 detachable display screen does just that, freeing computer users from the bonds of their cubical or home office. Want a soda from the fridge, but need to check your e-mail? The air panel screen uses a wireless connection to a
computer’s USB port to keep in constant contact with its base while you move
throughout your home.
Since it’s a touch screen, the airpanel display also functions as a pen tablet, and can even serve as your primary desktop monitor if you absolutely have to sit at a workstation. The air panel is powered
by Microsoft software and is part of the company's new aggressive "smart" consumer
technology market strategy.
The airpanel V150 touts a 15-inch display screen, though ViewSonic also offers the smaller, 10-inch airpanel
V110 as well. The mobile screen’s internal battery provides up to six hours of
remote use and recharges when set upon the display base.
airpanel V150: $1,229
airpanel V110 $999
