The M1 is the U.S. military's main combat tank and has been the armed forces' backbone since 1980. Renowned for its sturdiness and superiority in battle, this high-tech machine played a huge role in the swift victory of the 1991 Gulf War. Just nine tanks were lost to permanent damage out of the nearly 1,900 deployed there.
