The "Separation" column represents how far apart the two objects appear, stated as a fraction of the apparent width of the Moon. For example, from Boston, the closest approach between Jupiter and the Moon is at 9:54 p.m., and the separation is 0.50, meaning the Moon will be one-half of a Moons width away from Jupiter. | City | Sunset | Closest | Separation | | Los Angeles | 5:44 PST | 5:04 (D) | 1.03 | | Phoenix | 6:20 MST | 6:09 (T) | 0.66 | | Denver | 5:44 MST | 6:34 (T) | 0.56 | | Dallas | 6:19 CST | 7:44 (T) | 0.81 | | Houston | 6:17 CST | 7:49 | 0.91 | | New Orleans | 5:55 CST | 8:04 | 0.94 | | St. Louis | 5:47 CST | 8:09 | 0.66 | | Chicago | 5:33 CST | 8:14 | 0.56 | | Atlanta | 6:29 EST | 9:24 | 0.81 | | Toronto | 5:56 EST | 9:34 | 0.50 | | Miami | 6:20 EST | 9:44 | 1.15 | | Wash.,DC | 5:54 EST | 9:44 | 0.66 | | Montreal | 5:30 EST | 9:44 | 0.44 | | Philadelphia | 5:44 EST | 9:49 | 0.59 | | New York | 5:39 EST | 9:49 | 0.56 | | Boston | 5:26 EST | 9:54 | 0.50 | | Halifax | 5:51 AST | 11:04 | 0.41 | SOURCES: Joe Rao; Sky & Telescope magazine; Starry Night Pro software
