Roxann Dawson - Chief Engineer B'Elanna Torres

Roxann Dawson describes her character B'Elanna, a beautiful young woman who just happens to be half human and half Klingon, as "strong-willed, independent and confused. Caught between two worlds, she attempts to deny and suppress her powerful Klingon side."

A former student at the Starfleet Academy, B'Elanna quit and joined the anti-Cardassian terrrorist Maquis group. Now, her position as a crew member of the Federation starship U.S.S. voyager forces her to conform to Starfleet rules and regulations.

Born and raised in Los Angeles, Dawson majored in the theatrical arts at the University of California at Berkeley. She performed in many Broadway and off-Broadway productions around the country, and was prominently featured in several ongoing TV series and telefilms.

When not acting, Dawson finds time to pursue her other passion, writing. She co-authored the upcoming SF trilogy Tenebrea's Hope, and her play, "Passage Through the Heart," was recently performed at the University of Minnesota.
