Kes is giving off high levels of neurogenic energy, blasting away at the security people who try to stop her. She goes to Engineering.
B'Elanna and Seven confront her. After unleashing an energy burst on them, Kes caresses the warp core with her hands. Then she vanishes. Unfortunately, B'Elanna is dead.
Afterward, Kes reemerges by the warp core -- but now we're in the past. She looks young again, and with a mere act of will, garbs herself in a red dress like she used to wear. The computer tells her Voyager's been in the Delate Quadrant a mere 56 days.
After briefly checking in with the Doctor, who's trying to decide on a name, Kes goes to Hydroponics, where Kes -- the good one, who belongs in this era -- is working. Bad Kes tranquilizes her.

Identical cousins causing trouble
Mess hall. Bad Kes breaks her date that night with
Neelix. Too busy.
Captain's ready room.
Janeway and Chakotay are discussing how to fend off Vidiians when Kes enters, spills coffee, and then, after the senior execs leave, spies on the computer screen.
Ensign Samantha Wildman has been analyzing Vidiian immune system, getting knowledge that could be useful if the ship is ever boarded by those phage-suffering medical fanatics.
The conference room. The department heads meet to discuss how to maneuver through a field of dangerous vacuoles and avoid a likely Vidiian ambush. Autopilot could help minimize the need to drop out of warp and use impulse engines.
Shuttle bay. Kes goes to a shuttle, plots a course to her Ocampa homeworld.
Tom enters, puzzled, and asks her if she wants some flying lessons in the holodeck.
More time-travel troubles
Tuvok sees an unfamiliar young girl who identifies herself as Naomi Wildman. Tuvok's puzzled, because this is an era when Naomi doesn't yet exist. He tries to follow her down the hall but loses her.
Soon, he's even more puzzled. He's looking at Seven and the ex-Borg kids in their regeneration modules. Another vision from the future. Soon they vanish.
Kes goes to her room, finds a message from Neelix and a meal cooked by him. She furiously throws the home-cooked food to the floor.
She opens an encrypted channel -- to the Vidiians. She'll give them tactical data that will enable them to capture Voyager. In return, she wants safe passage to Ocampa.
Hydroponics. Bad Kes opens a big drawer, where she's put the sleeping good Kes. She rubs her young version's hair and face, then pushes the big drawer back in. She asks the computer for access to the tactical database and uses her mental powers to override security protocols.
The Vulcan's become unreliable
Tuvok reports his strange vision to Janeway. Janeway tells the computer to maintain a proximity scan on Tuvok.
Voyager enters the field of vacuoles. The Vidiian ship approaches. Tuvok feels sick.
Sick Bay. The Doctor and Ensign Wildman have derived a neural agent that will fend off the Vidiians (without harming them). Alone with the Doctor, Janeway asks if Wildman is pregnant. After some reluctance involving doctor-patient confidentiality, he says yes.
Tuvok walks the halls, hearing voices. After hearing the noises of Kes' future, violent return, he goes to Engineering and sees future bad Kes zapping B'Elanna. Tuvok collapses.
Sick Bay. Bad Kes surreptitiously increases level of cortical stimulation administered to poor Tuvok. The Doctor doesn’t understand what caused the resulting synaptic shock.
Now that Tuvok's out of the way
Janeway finds computer proximity scan of Tuvok shows there was a surge of tachyons. That means time travel is going on.
The Vidiians attack, grabbing the starship with a big grappling hook or can opener.
Further investigation uncovers the sleeping Kes, who -- after being awakened -- reveals she was attacked by another Kes.
Bad Kes tries to carry good Kes to a shuttle. Janeway confronts bad Kes, who says it was Janeway's encouragement of exploration and discovery that encouraged future to experiment with her mental powers -- ultimately turning her into a superpowered misfit, ruining her life.
There is more discussion, and then Janeway shoots bad Kes, who in death reveals her older looks.
The Vidiians retreat. Janeway and Tuvok hatch a long-term secret plan and discuss it with good Kes.
Happier times
Three years later. Janeway gives Tuvok a birthday cake.
Kes shows up in a shuttle. Janeway nods to Tuvok. She'd almost forgotten about all this, she says.
This time, they’re ready. To Chakotay's puzzlement, Janeway orders evacuation of Deck 11, just as angry Kes shows up there to cause explosions. Bad Kes goes to Engineering and finds hologram of herself, made three years earlier, passionately arguing that this is wrong, don’t do this, and so on.
Janeway and Tuvok arrive, as old Kes ackowledges she's repressed the memory of herself preparing a hologram to tell herself not to wreak this kind of havoc.
She's not angry anymore, but turns down Janeway's offer to stay on board. She must go to her own people. Neelix comes to the transporter room. There is a somber goodbye. After middle-aged Kes beams off, Janeway expresses hope that Kes "finds her way."
