"These are the voyages of
the starship Enterprise. Its five-year mission: to explore strange new
worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where
no man has gone before."
The cornerstone of the house
that Gene
Roddenberry built, and the original show about "idealists in space."
Captain James T. Kirk (William
Shatner) led the Enterprise's five-year mission to explore strange
new worlds, etc. While having all sorts of allegorical adventures and raising
viewer consciousness, the crew took time out to battle Klingons and Romulans.

After the show was cancelled,
Star Trek lived only in the
hearts and minds of its fans before 1979, when the first of a long
series of films launched to great acclaim.
