Star Trek: Deep Space Nine
In a departure from the "where no one has gone before" model, this series revolved around the crew and inhabitants of a space station, mostly letting people come to them.

Station Deep Space Nine occupies a sensitive region of space between the Federation and the Cardassian Empire. Its importance was magnified by its proximity to a wormhole, a shortcut to a distant part of the galaxy.

Under Benjamin Sisko's command, the station soon found itself at the center of first heightening tensions among rival alien civilizations and then a war waged on a galactic scale.
