JACK: Hold it right there. If you’re about to say you’ll explain along the way,I’m gonna lose it. I’ve about had it with the way the Tok’ra do business. I want to know exactly what we are dealing with here, every mission detail you’ve got, right now, or we go nowhere.

WHAT HAPPENED

Welcome back to planet Chulak, homeworld of the Jaffa, a race bred by the sinister Goa'uld to serve as host bodies. A boy runs into a tent, announcing to his father and another man that someone has arrived.

That someone is Teal'c, rogue Jaffa, freedom fighter and member of the SG-1 team. After introducing himself to the men -- one of whom is identified as Rak'nor, a local chieftain -- he gets down to the serious business of instigating revolution against the Goa'uld, who the Jaffa revere as gods.

Rak'nor's companion quite rightly points out that the Goa'uld System Lords are extremely powerful. Apophis, in particular, is a source of great fear after causing untold slaughter to the people of Chulak.

Teal’c acknowledges this, but points out that it is a sign that now more then ever the Jaffa need to rise up. This drives Rak'nor into a rage. With a snarl, he exclaims that this blasphemous rebellion will be crushed. He then calls to hidden guards who enter the tent and shoot Teal'c. (spoilers)

ANALYSIS

A strong episode to tide us over while the fourth season moves into a rerun cycle.

What were the highlights? The pacing was as good as usual, serving up not only tension but the humor we've come to expect from this, the funniest of the major SF series.

Interestingly, both the A and the B plots were enticing in this episode -- I enjoyed how it wound together at the end. And by that point, we're deep in a major crisis with the System Lords that may well lead us right into the next story arc. Talk about cliffhangers!

TUNE IN NEXT WEEK

Reruns start with the season premiere -- "Small Victories". Can the members of SG-1 defeat the space cockroaches?

There are those who believe that Stargate SG-1 is the best science fiction program currently in production. You're tired of answering that question. Jack and Sam: good thing or bad thing?
