WHAT HAPPENED
Once again, we find SG-1 far from home. Garbed in hi-tech desert gear, they set up equipment at a remote archeological site to monitor some upcoming magnetic storms.
Daniel copies some engravings off the wall and discusses his findings with some other archeological expert, who toys a handheld glowing device -- obviously an archaeologist from some planet with more advanced technology.
The stranger, Malakai, wonders whether they should leave before the storm hits, but Daniel dismisses the question, prattling on about how the language is similar to Latin. The now desperate-looking Malakai says the geomagnetic field is at its peak and that he must act now.

ANALYSIS
So this is "Groundhog 'Gate".
I found this episode to be a nice take on an old theme, packed with the usual good humor and some decent tech to make it all somewhat believable.
But otherwise, an old theme. There's really not much to say.
One little plot note that I found interesting is that this machine was built by the ancients to stop disaster, but one of the 14 planets connected to it just happened to be Earth. Are we living on an ancient's homeworld? I guess that remains to be seen.
TUNE IN NEXT WEEK
In "Watergate", the Russians find a Stargate of their own. Unfortunately, it's deep underwater. Guest-starring the lovely Marina "Deanna Troi" Sirtis.
