Unfortunately, Anise explains,
the armbands don't work on the Tok'ra physiology, perhaps because the symbiote
present in every Goa'uld and Tok'ra interferes with their function. Since
Teal'c has a symbiote, she only brought three -- for O'Neill, Carter and
Jackson.
Anise wants to start experimenting
immediately, and gets very irate when Jack tells her to go find other subjects.
Conveniently enough, just when it looks like we are not going to have an
episode, she allows SG-1 to see her human side, the host Freya, who apologizes
and reassures the team.
I love being a guinea
pig
We next see Anise hooking
Jack up to a sensor designed to monitor his vitals before putting the armband
on him and powering it up.
Although he doesn't feel
any different at first, she tells him to give it time, explaining that
the device takes awhile to ramp up in order to give his system time to
adjust.
Jack tries the armband out
by sparring with Teal'c. He thinks the whole experiment is a crock until
he dodges faster than the eye can see, punches Teal'c and knocks him out.
Back in the infirmary, Dr.
Fraiser treats Teal'c while Jack delivers a slightly smug apology. His
strength is five times normal, and he has developed a sweet tooth.
Fraiser asks Anise to explain
the monitoring system but the alien woman ignores the question, saying
only that it is time to increase the amount of subjects. Daniel and Carter
get hooked up and powered on.

Later Jack finds Daniel reading
in his office. Jack picks up a book and thumbs through it faster then the
eye can see. This frustrates Daniel because he can't use the power yet.
Dr. Fraiser walks into Carter's
lab to find her looking through a microscope in a pitch-black room -- apparently
she wandered in and started working, not even realizing that the lights
were out. Carter goes to the infirmary for tests, but nothing seems to
be wrong.
Back in the gym, O'Neill
clocks in at over 100 miles an hour on the treadmill and breaks the strength
monitor when he squeezes it.
Anise checks in with Daniel
and finds him excited that he can read "really fast."
In an apparent romantic overture,
she shares her archaeological notes on the bands. He reads them in a second
and translates the inscription on the bands as the Stan Lee credo, "with
great power comes great responsibility."
Dueling scientists
Just then the armbands indicate
that they have reached full power. Fraiser pulls Anise aside and asks her
about SG-1's heightened temperature and adrenaline levels, but when the
Tok'ra researcher fails to cooperate, Hammond orders the experiment suspended.
The armbands refuse to come
loose.
While Hammond, Anise and
Fraiser argue, Jack bench-presses 600 pounds like it's nothing. Teal'c
is concerned that they cannot remove the armbands, but Jack responds that
he is not only unconcerned, he thinks they should be using this new power
to kick some Goa'uld butt instead of sitting around.
Meanwhile, Sam is writing
a 1,000-page book on wormhole physics, typing faster than her computer's
keyboard buffer can handle. Like Jack, she seems elated and unconcerned
about the fact that the armbands won't come off.
Let's bring some snacks
Daniel, Carter and Jack talk
about the effect of the armbands, but feel a bit to good to care. The three
of them suddenly feel really hungry -- the bands are speeding their metabolisms
-- and decide to sneak out to a steak house in town. They use their super-speed
to slip out of Stargate Command, and we next find them sitting down at
a restaurant.
They order a tremendous amount
of food, much to the waitress's dismay. The team seems to realize that
they are defying a direct order to remain at SGC, but don't seem to care
much. Carter plays pool while Jack and Daniel have a drink. A few punks
pick a fight with Jackson and our heroes indulge in a traditional bar fight.
Back at SGC, Hammond discusses
the situation with Fraiser. Having just been informed of the barroom brawl,
he wants to know if the armbands make the crew stupid.
Fraiser tells him that the
armbands seem to work by producing a virus that is increasing their hormone
levels among other things.
She feels that this could
effect their judgement and make them a little less than rational. She also
feels that this continued acceleration is not only bad for the crew but
could even kill them over time.

Some explaining to do,
but first a fight
Later, Hammond delivers a
stern reprimand to SG-1 when Anise interrupts to say she has "just" received
information about a new Goa'uld battle ship Apophis is building.
As it emerges, the Tok'ra
have actually known about this ship for some time, but their own attempts
at sabotage have failed. Hammond says he does not appreciate being manipulated,
and wonders whether the Tok'ra actually have his people's best interests
in mind.
Teal'c, the only rational
person left in SG-1, assures Hammond that this ship is a real threat and
that its completion must be stopped. Unfortunately, it is too heavily guarded
for Hammond to let Teal'c go alone, and the rest of the team cannot be
trusted to remain in control of themselves.
Our enhanced heroes discuss
taking out the battleship themselves. Examining the documentation the Tok'ra
sent, they find a weak point in the ship -- a coolant system that will
cause the core to overload if destroyed. They decide to zip in, blow up
the pipes, and zip out.
Daniel and Carter discuss
the technical elements of how to get past the shields, while Jack lends
his input by telling them they'll need snacks.
The trio zip into the gate
chamber, lock the gate open and zip through.
Speed of lightning, roar
of blunder
Shortly thereafter, we see
a bunch of armed Jaffa guarding the gate on the Goa'uld world where Apophis
is building his fancy new ship. Three blurs zip in, knock the guards out
and proceed to the building site.
Daniel sees two guards carrying
some weapons-grade naquaada -- quality alien metal -- and decides to get
it. Sam and Jack go to hit the coolant system.
Samantha complains of being
a little hot but she shrugs it off. They set the C-4 charges and meet Daniel
back in the tunnel. He seems woozy and falls down under the weight of the
naquaada. The armband falls off.
Back on Earth, Anise is telling
Hammond and Fraiser that the armbands will fall off on their own -- her
sensors indicate that the SG-1 members have started to produce antibodies
to kill the armband virus.
She is pleased that this
might solve the riddle of how the Atoniek were wiped out, but Hammond is
understandably upset that his team is out on a heavily guarded Goa'uld
world with less-than-perfect judgement and an advantage that could disappear
at any moment.
Who could it be?
Inside the unfinished warship,
alarms are sounding and guards are running around. It looks like the end
for our heroes when Teal'c appears from nowhere and cleans house, helping
Daniel back to the gate while Carter and Jack go to finish the job of blowing
things up.
However, Carter is the next
to drop and Jack gets caught in a force shield. Both sets of bands come
off, leaving Sam and Jack on the ground, powerless and trapped.
Daniel tells Teal'c that
the mountain will explode 10 minutes after the charges goes off, but neither
goes for the Stargate to leave their friends behind.
When the charges go off,
the force shield comes down, freeing Sam and Jack. The team meets up again
and makes a run for it, with Jaffa warriors chasing them all the way back
to the gate.
The mountain erupts into
a huge fireball.
Back at SGC, our trio apologizes
to Hammond, but he declines their offer of a court-martial proceeding,
saying they were all under the influence of an alien technology.
Teal'c announces smugly that
he has no need to apologize as he was under orders.
Anise tells the group that
she looks forward to working with them again. This provokes a less-than-enthusiastic
response.
