We open to the infirmary to find Daniel layed up after an appendix operation

While Jack explores, Carter, understandably concerned, meets with Hammond. She tells him her hunch that it was an Asgard transport beam that took Jack. Hammond recalls Teal’C to active duty.

On the ship, a voice directs Jack to go to a particular chamber. There he finds Thor, one of his Asgard friends, encased in some sort of pod that is barely keeping him alive, let alone conscious.

Before he passes out, Thor tells Jack to go to the "stones" for information, and warns his human friend that the bugs -- an enemy worse than the Goa'uld as far as the Asgard are concerned -- are attracted to high levels of energy.

The insect plague

Sure enough, O’Neill finds a stony communication device containing prerecorded messages from Thor.

These messages tell of the how his ship became infected with the replicators (robot bugs) and how these bugs found Earth’s coordinates in the computer. Thor stayed on the ship to try to stop it from reaching Earth.

Perhaps in a bit of wry alien humor, the recording goes on to state that if Jack is seeing this message then Thor has failed and most likely Earth is doomed.

Shortly thereafter, Teal’C, Carter and Hammond are busy trying g to figure out O’Neill’s disappearance when a holographic image of Jack appears and clues them in on the replicator threat.

He requests a bunch of explosives, mentioning a plan to destroy the Asgard ship and all the robot bugs infesting it. Since there is no easy way off the ship that the replicators will not take advantage of themselves, he insists that nobody else join him.

The Asgard's extremely advanced technology complicates the situation -- human weapons cannot get a targeting fix on the super-technological vessel.

I told you to come alone!

Jack beams up the explosives, only to find Teal’C and Carter with it, much to his dismay.

The three teammates grab what they can and retreat as bugs flood the chamber. Teal’C tries to fire his beam weapons at them but they shrug it off. When Jack blasts them with a shotgun they disintegrate but quickly reform.

SG-1 takes the ordinance to Thor. Once they get there, Carter and Teal’C relate their plan to dump the explosives and get off the ship via shuttle.

Ominously, Thor tells them that they can’t blow up the ship -- internal dampeners would prevent it. Carter starts searching the mineral-based computer for some answers.

Back at SGC, the Pentagon attaché, Major West, arrives to help deal with the situation.

Eat the guns, leave the cannoli

Thor describes how the Asgard first found the replicators and how the robot species now plagues the Asgard solar systems. The bugs will feed on the ship itself, multiplying in order to ensure their survival when they come to Earth.

Carter and Thor come up with a plan to burn up the ship in the atmosphere, but first they need to take navigation control back from the bugs. With Carter orchestrating their efforts on the "stones" computer, Teal’C and Jack head out.

Unfortunately, when they reach the navigation center, they find it quite chewed and bug-infested. It's no use -- they have to head back.

Back in the pod chamber, Thor and Carter have come up with an alternate plan -- plant explosives on the outside of the ship. The blast, if triggered properly, could force the ship to spin out of control and burn up in the atmosphere.

Jackson has left his infirmary bed and come up to the gate room where Hammond and West discuss plans in the event of SG-1’s failure. They decide to put U.S. military forces on Def-Con 3 alert.

It's always Teal'C

Back on the Asgard ship Jack escorts a spacesuited Teal’C to the airlock so he can go outside and plant the explosive. Teal’C floats off to plant the bomb.

Unfortunately, Jack starts hearing the sounds of hungry bugs. He tries to open the outer doors for him but finds them disabled. A small piece of liquid metal bursts Teal’C’s air tank.

Carter tries to use the transporter to beam Teal’C back inside but can’t reach him so close to the ship. Jack tells him to push off from the ship, which he does. At the last possible second Sam is able to lock on him and beam him back.

Perhaps from all the excitement, Thor goes into some sort of shock and Carter puts him in stasis.

The team then assesses their situation. There are no more undamaged airlocks, so they can’t leave via shuttle after all. Without Thor's assistance, Carter can't beam them off the ship, which is already lurching into the atmosphere.

Luckily, Carter has yet another plan.

We're running kind of short on plans

On Earth, Hammond goes to Def-Con 2 while the stargate teleports away. Jackson believes that this is an escape plan and West concurs.

Hammond calls and asks for the Beta Gate to be unpacked.

On the ship, Teal’C dials the stargate by hand while Jack shoots incoming bugs.

Carter uses the ship teleporter to beam herself and Thor to the gate. Teal’C opens the gate but they can't leave until they enter the atmosphere and blow the bomb. Bugs pour into the chamber as SG-1 blasts them. Finally Jack detonates the bomb and they gate away.

The ship enters the atmosphere as a fireball, which hits the ocean.

At SGC Daniel is worried about the lack of news and the fate of his friends.

Back in the ocean, a bug crawls to the surface....

To be continued.
