WHAT HAPPENED

Jack comes to the infirmary to visit Daniel, who is laid up following an appendix operation. As their conversation evolves, we learn that SG-1 is taking advantage of the archaeologist's infirmary time to grab some much-needed R&R.

Teal’C goes home to visit his son, but Jack and Carter are divided on their plans -- he wants to go fishing, she wants to stay at Stargate Command and tinker with the naquaada reactor. While they argue over vacation priorities, Jack is suddenly transported into an alien ship.

There he finds strange flashes of light and a swarm of small but menacing mechanical bugs. (more spoilers)

ANALYSIS

This episode gives a nice look into the technology of the alien Asgard, a race that the show's producers have previously done little but tease fans with.

More significantly, "Nemesis" opens up a new enemy for Earth and the stargate program, as well as offering nice tension and cool little robot bugs. What else could a fan ask for?

Granted, the episode wasn’t particularly deep or philosophical but it still kept up the nice moments of characterization that have become a Stargate: SG-1 hallmark. And since it's a cliffhanger episode, the conclusion should prove to be very interesting.
