GLENSIDE, Pa. (AP) - It's a cartoon Al Gore on a TV show that no one would mistake for the nightly news. But when you're running for president, saving the day in any form is worth noting.
Extending the perks of power beyond Air Force Two, Gore takes a guest turn on Futurama, the Fox cartoon featuring characters making their way through the 30th century.
Producer David Cohen read that Futurama was one of Gore's favorite shows and arranged for the vice president to play himself in the season finale airing Sunday, May 21.
In the episode, the mad scientist, Prof. Farnsworth, invents a "What If?" machine that lets each character find out what would happen if one of their wishes was granted.
Fry, a 20th century guy who is cryogenically frozen and wakes up in the future, asks what would have happened had he not bumped his head and fell into the freezer.
He goes back to 1999, learns that his life was just as lame as before the bump on the head, and it falls to Gore and his team of "Action Rangers" to return Fry to the 30th century.
