When Cade Foster arrives at Chloe's house, he finds a media circus When Cade Foster arrives at Chloe's house, he finds a media circus. It turns out that Chloe became a minor celebrity after correctly predicting the mayor's death.

Cade believes Chloe is channeling quatrains from Nostradamus, and he's afraid the Gua think so too. He has to reach her first, but after watching a genial cop named Barlow turn away aggressive TV reporter Arthur Hewitt, he realizes getting to see her will be a difficult task.

As Hewitt sums up recent events for his audience, Cade inadvertently appears on camera. It's a mistake that enrages him later when he reviews a tape of the broadcast with Eddie.

The quatrain about the mayor isn't in their book of prophecies, and Eddie suspects a trap. He thinks trying to get to Chloe is much too risky.

Cade's determined to find a way in, though. He's sick of getting nowhere in his war against the Gua, and he needs more answers than the book of Nostradamus is providing.

That's what friends are for

Shortly after protesting that he absolutely won't help Cade this time, Eddie finds himself outside the house looking for a way to get Cade in.

Inside, Denise and Chloe are trying to figure out their newfound fame. Denise is excited that her friend is a star, but Chloe is not impressed by her own "mumbo jumbo."

After discussing whether MSG from Chinese food could destroy Chloe's new found psychic powers, they decide to call "Chico's Chicken" for something to eat. Eddie intercepts the call and relays the order to Cade, who calls the restaurant and tells them he's a boyfriend planning to pick the order up.

Elsewhere, Joshua meets with Grady, a Gua agent who has picked up the report on Chloe. Grady dislikes Joshua's cautious approach and is angered when Joshua takes over the investigation.

A little young for Colonel Sanders, but he'll do

After picking up the chicken and swiping a car, Cade returns to Chloe's house. He's briefly stopped by Barlow, and survives an awkward moment when the good-humored cop jokingly demands a password.

Denise answers the door, and likes what she sees. After sizing Cade up and murmuring, "I should order chicken more often," she invites him in.

Chloe joins them, burping on some soda. To both her and Cade's shock, she immediately recognizes him as the "twice-blessed man."

How about some prophecy with your chicken?

Denise quickly finds the situation disturbing, and tries to chase Cade out. Chloe knows, however, that Cade is somehow involved in what is happening to her.

Outside, Joshua's strike team arrives, disguised as another set of TV reporters. Grady is eager to attack immediately, but Joshua orders caution. He also spots Cade as he reviews the TV news footage.

Cade tries to persuade Chloe that she's in danger, and tells her about Nostradamus's prophecies. He theorizes that Chloe's near-death experience has opened up a channel between her and the 16th-century prophet.

Strictly speaking, Denise is right

Denise quickly decides that Cade is an escaped mental patient. However, when Barlow -- who is also Denise's boyfriend -- checks on why the delivery man hasn't left, she goes along with Chloe's wishes and tells him everything is fine.

Chloe and Cade think Nostradamus might be trying to send Cade a message, but neither has any idea what it might be. Cade continues to fill Chloe in, telling her about the Gua invasion, which convinces Denise he's either a madman or a charlatan.

She issues an ultimatum to Chloe -- "choose, because it's him or me." Chloe is clearly torn, and Denise angrily stomps out of the house.

Barlow tries to comfort her, and she angrily tells him, "he's not even the real chicken boy!" She doesn't know Cade's name, but she asks Barlow to find out who he is.

Hey! Local reporters don't have cool surveillance technology!

Meanwhile, Eddie has his own suspicions about the newly arrived "TV reporters." Stealthily putting a stethoscope to the van, he overhears Joshua and Grady activating a high-tech surveillance rig.

Joshua and Grady are listening in on Cade and Chloe, who are discussing Denise. Chloe understands Denise's skepticism -- the story sounds crazy even to her -- but feels her friend will come around in time.

Cade finally introduces himself by name, and after surprising him with a kiss, Chloe promises to help anyway she can. Cade wants to find some way to communicate with Nostradamus.

Grady isn't impressed by what he overhears, and confirms Eddie's worst suspicions when he exclaims, "Two pathetic humans in the house. Let's end this now."

"All in good time," Joshua tells him. "All in good time."

Tabloid journalism proves useful

Eddie calls Cade and brings him up to date, urging him to get out while he can. Cade can't give up this opportunity to talk with Nostradamus, though.

While they wait for a license plate trace on Cade's car to come back, Barlowe and Denise talk about a date for the evening. When she has trouble calming down, he helps out with a few kisses.

Spotting Barlow improving police-civilian relations, Hewitt sees a chance to get an interview with Chloe. He sneaks up to Chloe's door and announces himself.

Chloe decides to help Cade by telling the world about aliens and Nostradamus. She opens the door and finds herself in the glare of a TV camera.

Suddenly, she falls into a trance, reciting most of a new quatrain before Cade pulls her back indoors. Smelling a story, the reporter sets out to identify the stranger at Chloe's house.

Wanted for grand theft chicken delivery car

Barlow has just received confirmation that Cade's car was stolen from Chico's Chicken. Being an unusually intelligent minor character, he immediately calls for backup.

Denise wants to know how Barlow is going save Chloe from the "psycho" -- she's feeling guilty for walking out on Chloe. Barlow isn't sure, but he warns Denise to stay away from a potentially dangerous situation.

Eddie interrupts to warn Barlow about the Gua "reporters." He tries to convince Barlow they're "criminals, yeah, armed criminals," but his shifty demeanor does not inspire confidence.

Grady is ready to move in, but Joshua warns him to "use your wits here, not your weapons."

These aren't the droids you're looking for

Barlow and Eddie go to the van to check out Grady and Joshua. As Joshua and Eddie glare at each other, Grady explains they're just reporters from "WKBJ Channel 2."

Eddie points out that he's never heard of this station ,but when Barlow asks for identification Joshua simply smiles and produces it. "No problem," Joshua tells the apologetic cop.

Meanwhile, Hewitt has identified Cade Foster. Denise overhears his excited update about the murderer in Chloe's house, and immediately calls Chloe to warn her.

Shiny happy prophets

Chloe is concerned, but drops the issue when Cade suddenly figures out that her trances happen when she sees bright lights. Taking a lamp from the table, he shines it in her eyes, and she drops into a trance.

In a strange voice, she tells Cade, "It's an honor to meet you." Nostradamus is speaking to Cade through her.

Grady is at the end of the patience. He confronts Joshua, blaming him for the recent decision not to launch the second wave and telling him, "The human race would be on its knees before us if not for one frightened soldier."

Joshua isn't impressed, and won't change his orders. Grady pretends to back down, only to strike Joshua down the moment the senior Gua agent turns his back.

"The Council will redeem me when I deliver Cade Foster," he says, as he prepares to attack the house.

Sorry, the prophet's union forbids speaking plainly

Nostradamus proves just as cryptic in conversation as he is in poetry. Cade desperately wants to know why he's been chosen to battle the alien invasion, but all Nostradamus will say is that he "has the key to unlock the door."

Nostradamus advises patience and following the book of quatrains, but Cade is out of patience. "We've won some battles," he tells the prophet, "but we're losing the war."

"This is a journey," Nostradamus replies. "Your task is to take it one step at a time."

If Cade can survive the journey, the prophet continues, "One day you will come to the final test. If you are victorious, they will leave this Earth."

Remain calm. All is well!

Hewitt recaps the story, and this time Barlow overhears Cade's identity. He immediately clears the street in the interest of public safety, creating a perfect opportunity for the Gua.

As Barlow clears out the crowd, Denise sees an opportunity to help Chloe. As she heads for the house, the Gua emerge from the van and shoot Barlow.

Eddie hides and watches as the Gua cut the house's phone line and power, interrupting Cade, Chloe and Nostradamus.

Chloe gives Cade her father's old shotgun. They barricade the doors, and Cade asks Chloe to find a flashlight.

Denise gets out a spare key to the house and lets herself in through the basement.

Shining the flashlight into Chloe's eyes, Cade asks Nostradamus for help in getting out of their predicament. Nostradamus advises, "You must turn yourself over to the enemy."

Denise joins them, and Cade sends them back down in the basement. He doesn't follow, though, telling the women, "that's not the way for me."

Eddie's not so nice to wake up to

After making his way to the van, Eddie slaps awake an extremely angry Joshua. The Gua nearly strangles Eddie before the human can gargle out, "I need your help."

Grady breaks in and finds himself in a faceoff with Cade -- who surrenders. Grady is shocked and disgusted, telling Cade, "You're no warrior. You're nothing at all."

As the Gua shove Cade out the door, Barlow's backup finally arrives. They find Barlow wounded but alive, and get into a shootout with the Gua.

Several Gua are killed, but they dissolve out of sight of the cops. Grady nearly gets away with Cade, but he's interrupted by Joshua, who shoots him.

Eddie and Cade escape, as does Joshua. Barlow saw Grady get shot, but when the cop finally staggers over, he is very puzzled to find no body.

Local news at its finest

Arthur Hewitt sums up the story: unidentified gunmen helped convicted criminal Cade Foster escape. Chloe and Denise were found unharmed in the basement.

Somewhere outside of town, Cade and Chloe say goodbye to each other. She tells Cade that she no longer feels Nostradamus's presence.

"His purpose was to reach you," she tells Cade, "and maybe he's done that." Cade agrees that Nostradamus has reached him.

Cade promises to inform the Gua that Chloe is no longer a threat, and they hug. "It's too bad you're leaving," Chloe says, "because it's buck-a-beer night on Fridays at McKinley's."

Cade takes a rain check.

As he leaves, he ponders Nostradamus's message. "I must have the patience to be mindful of the journey," he decides, "not just the end result."
