"Peacekeeper lies!" says D’Argo. "This
has to be a trap to get more dangerous weapons aboard D’Argo."
Aeryn tells D’Argo to leave Crais alone,
but Crichton thinks the Luxan has a point.
Zhaan thinks the change might be good
for Talyn. Aeryn agrees, but insists on supervising the switch, a concession
Crais willingly grants.
Crichton asks, "What if Talyn doesn’t
want us frelling with his weaponry?" Crais says that he needs their help
to convince Talyn.
D’Argo and Crichton both have a problem
with this plan. Crichton sees no reason to trust what he erroneously calls
the "Plakavoids."
The voice of reason
Aeryn is cautious, but she sees the
deal with the Plovakians as a simple business transaction. Zhaan isn’t
quite convinced that the switch is a good idea yet, but she’s willing to
think about it – perhaps even meditate on the subject.
"Enough thinking!" D’Argo shouts. "If
we really want to help Talyn, then we should kill Crais!"
He grabs Crais, but Aeryn makes him
step back.
Crais tells the others that Talyn would
become more destructive with his guidance. As it is, his control of Talyn
is limited, and he has not been able to convince Talyn to use his weapons
as a last resort.
Aeryn offers to link with Talyn and
try to convince him.
Crichton asks why they should trust
Crais. Crais points out that he has only used Talyn’s power in self-defense,
and Zhaan reminds Crichton of Talyn’s encounter with the Halosians.
Crichton thinks this is a "stack of
drenn." D’Argo still wants to kill Crais.
"I have changed," Crais says. "My only
concern is for Talyn’s protection. Left unchecked, his aggressiveness will
lead to disaster."
The Plovakian ship arrives early. They’re
displeased to see Talyn still active.
Aeryn and Stark turn to see the scan
of the Plovakian ship on another council. Stark spots the flashing red
light – which bears a suspicious resemblance to HAL’s communication panels
in 2001 – that marks Talyn’s weapon controls.
Looking at the scan, Aeryn sees the
the Plovakian ship is well-armed. Stark suggests raising the defense screen,
"just in case", but Aeryn stops him from going to the weapon console.
The Plovakians ask if there is a problem.
"No problem," Crais replies, and offers to discuss the terms of their agreement.
The main gun suddenly fires, destroying
the Plovakian ship.
Crais demands to know who fired the
weapon. Aeryn assures him nobody did it.
Crais wants get back in contact with
Crais and find out what happened. Crichton tells Aeryn not to give the
transponder back, but Crais has another.
He reconnects with Talyn and uses the
ship’s security system to chase the others out.
Their voices dripping with disbelief,
the Plokavians ask, "So the cannon just went off by itself?"
