Aeryn and Dregon are planning to climb a cliff by the seashore. She’s bemused by his easy agreement to her suggestions, and unsure how to respond when he sweeps her off her feet into a kiss.
Empress Novia is furious at Crichton’s beheading and promises to return the favor to whomever did it. She forbids anybody to leave the royal planet -- not even Crichton’s friends are above suspicion.
Since Councilor Tyno noticed Aeryn's anger over the marriage, he suspects she might be responsible. He wants her found and questioned.

"If Prince Clavor assumes the throne," he warns D'Argo, "I cannot guarantee your safety. Find your friend’s head."
Ahead of the game
Scorpius has already found Crichton’s head, thanks to a DNA sample he took when he interrogated Crichton in the
aurora chair. Once Crichton’s body is retrieved, Scorpius can finally get the wormhole data that obsesses him.
As he packs up Crichton’s head, Scorpius hears a noise. Somebody promptly shoots him.
Zhaan tinkers with Farscape One. Kahaynu appears and asks her to take a transport pod home – he and his brethren are concerned for her life.
"If Moya’s life is to end capriciously," she says, "you and I are going to remain with them."
"Doubtful," replies Kahaynu. He begins to stroll away.
Zhaan orders the DRDs to activate Farscape One’s engine – in reverse. The engine starts sucking in Kahaynu’s misty body.
Kahaynu begs for his life, but refuses to restore Moya. Zhaan refuses to set him free, and he is sucked into the engine.
Zhaan is shocked by her own actions. She asks herself, "In my rage what have I done?"
The headless Luxan
Chiana and D’Argo have had no luck finding Crichton’s head. D’Argo is miserable – he feels responsible for talking him into the marriage.
She reminds him that the marriage was Crichton’s only chance to escape Scorpius, noting sagely that "We take what we get."
Jenavia -- Scorpius's previously unseen assailant -- has Crichton’s head now. Using a transmitter device much like the one D’Argo has, she tells him she plans to reunite him with his body.
Crichton begs her to seek the assistance of experts, but Jenavia is confident in her untried skills. "If the parts are aligned right, the machine should do the rest," she says.
She wedges his head onto his body and activates the transformation machine. Crichton returns to normal with little more than a crick in his neck.
Shortly thereafter, Prince Clavor learns of the disappearance of Crichton’s body and his subsequent de-petrification.
This does not do good things for his mood. He grabs Cargn, ordering him to "do something, oh magnificent representative of a supposedly master race, or you will surely die at your mother’s hand."
Why camping is a bad idea
Aeryn and Dregon have almost climbed the cliff, but Dregon gets stuck. When Aeryn climbs down to him, he confesses that while he was rated an expert at the training facility, this is his first real climb. He’s terrified.
"Grab my hand," Aeryn tells him. He does, but then he panics and grabs her leg.
They plummet off the cliff.
Meanwhile, Jenavia has taken Crichton to a hidden camp beside a river. Since she overheard Scorpius gloating about capturing Crichton, she has some questions about Crichton’s origins and mission.
"You wouldn’t like the truth," Crichton tells her.
She throws him to the ground. She’s seen his medical data and knows he’s not Sebacean – which means he’s not the Peacekeeper Disruptor agent he claimed to be.
She grabs him and puts her wrist-knife to his throat. "And if you’re not a Disruptor," she says, "then you know too much about me."
Better a live loser
Crichton tells her the story of his life. She thinks it’s pathetic, but decides to let him go on living.
She tells him that she didn’t kill Scorpius -- dead bodies lead to inconvenient questions, and a live Crichton is all she needs to accomplish her mission of preventing the Skarrans from gaining influence.
"Help me do my job," she says, "and I’ll help you get what you want, whatever it is."
Elsewhere, we learn that Aeryn broke her leg in the fall, but has splinted it and can walk.
Unfortunately, Dregon is so badly injured he can barely move. That’s bad news, because no rescue ships are likely to find them on this deserted beach. They will have to travel inland to be rescued.
Deus ex leviathan
Back on Moya, Zhaan says a funeral benediction for Pilot. Suddenly, Kahaynu appears again behind her and revives Moya, telling Zhaan that the Leviathan’s decommissioning was a test.
According to Kahaynu, Leviathans are gentle creatures that will do almost anything to please their passengers. Kahaynu worried that Zhaan could use Moya to produce a fleet of gunships, but he is now convinced that Zhaan is dedicated to protecting Moya from those who would exploit her.
If she is worthy, Zhaan replies, then she wants Kahaynu off the ship. He promises to go, but Moya wishes to speak to Zhaan first.
Moya has a simple request for Zhaan: "sing."
Pick a side, any side
D’Argo and Scorpius meet up. The Skaaran confesses that he doesn’t know where Crichton is, and instead proposes an alliance with D’Argo -- after all, Novia might execute both of them if Crichton doesn’t return.
Scorpius suspects Cargn, and offers to help D’Argo retrieve his friend, arguing that he can return Crichton unharmed once he gets the wormhole data he wants.
Cargn interrupts them, calling Scorpius a "biological mistake" and interrogating D’Argo with his mental domination powers.
When he learns the D’Argo knows nothing about Crichton, Cargn asks who might. D’Argo is compelled to say that Chiana thinks she knows what has happened.
Scorpius immediately proposes a new deal, this time with Cargn: find Chiana and interrogate her together. However, Cargn would rather race him to the girl, and so no deal happens.
Completely unaware of all these machinations, Aeryn pulls Dregon on a travois. Next time, she tells him, hold on to the wall.
D’Argo searches for Chiana, only to find Rygel, who is so worried about the empress’s plans to execute all foreigners that he can’t even eat.
Eventually, Cargn reaches Chiana first. Although she turns out to have no useful information, he believes she could be useful as a lure. When Clavor no longer wants anything to do with him, he kills the prince.
Camping without an axe murderer?
Crichton and Jenavia make the best of being stuck at camp for the night, playing in the river. She gives him her necklace, which doubles as a blaster.
"A little stuns," she says, "and a lot kills." She’s worried she may not be able to protect him when they return to the palace.
Dregon and Aeryn are also sleeping under the stars. He apologizes for causing her trouble, but points out that she’s clearly not trained to deal with emotions.
He tells her that she can’t become callous, that the good days of love are worth the pain. He thinks she should tell Crichton her feelings.
Scorpius visits D’Argo. He has found Cargn – who has Chiana – and needs help killing him.
"You’ll never get Crichton," D’Argo tells Scorpius. "He’ll die first."
"You underestimate the strength of the relationship," says Scorpius. "Even your friend does not yet understand."
Jenavia and Crichton meet in the palace the next morning. They wish each other luck.
Before she goes on ahead, she offers to share a few drops of the testing nectar with him. "We’re not compatible," he says.
Aeryn struggles on towards civilization, and finally encounters a rescuer. Even with a broken back, the ever-optimistic Dregon would like to spend time with her again.
Only the best crocodile tears
Jenavia finds Clavor’s body and weeps. Rygel tries to convince Tyno that the empress’s plan to execute all foreigners is a bad idea.
Crichton has a few words to say about that, too. While Jenavia stalks out in a convincing display of loathing, Rygel -- overjoyed to see the human -- brings Crichton up to date: D’Argo is with Scorpius, while Chiana is in Cargn’s hands. Crichton shakes his head and goes to save the day.
"Where are you going?" asks Tyno.
"I don’t know," replies Crichton. "I’ll let you know when I get there."
Just an old-fashioned deathtrap
Scorpius and D’Argo find Chiana hanging over the acid tank in the foundry.
Cargn warns them to keep their distance, boasting that he is no longer concerned with putting Clavor on the throne. Instead, "this is about killing you."
"It must be painful to realize that you are defeated," says Scorpius, "defeated by nothing more than your own suspicions."
The heat-sensitive Scorpius is staggering in the heat. Cargn promises D’Argo his full attention as soon as Scorpius collapses.
Scorpius attacks and D’Argo follows. They tackle Cargn, but he gets off a shot that breaks one of the chains holding Cargn up.
Cargn knocks down both assailants and is about to kill D’Argo when Crichton shoots him several times and then knocks him into the acid.
The chain breaks. As Chiana falls, D’Argo leaps over the vat and saves her.
"How Batman was that!" Crichton exclaims.
D’Argo leaves Crichton alone with Scorpius, recommending that the human kill his longtime tormentor.
Crichton thinks about it, but settles for holding the terrified Scorpius over the acid and warning the half-breed to leave him alone.
After Crichton leaves, Scorpius saunters out of the room, stopping a moment to dip his hand in the acid. He was feigning his terror.
Family matters
Crichton decides to settle things with Empress Novia. He has no intention of becoming a statue . . . until the empress tells him that Katralla is already carrying his child, thanks to a sly bit of artificial insemination.
That convinces Crichton, who won’t leave a child without a father. However, the transformation won’t work – Crichton’s human physiology is different enough from Sebaceans that a second trip through the machine will probably kill him.
Crichton has a solution – Councilor Tyno can take his place. Nobody really knows what Crichton looks like, and with Katralla pregnant the succession is already secured.
Most importantly, Crichton tells the empress, "they love each other." He asks Katralla’s opinion using D’Argo’s communications device, and she agrees.
"Well there you go," Crichton says. "The good guys win for once – and I have a child that I will never know."
As he turns to leave, Katralla asks if he wants to see his offspring. He spends a precious moment with a simulation of the child to come.
He touches Katralla on the shoulder for a moment. As he leaves, he tells Tyno, "You take care of my little girl."
Compatibility
Moya cruises, safe for now. Neither Pilot nor Zhaan tell the others what happened with Kahaynu.
D’Argo thinks Crichton made a mistake by not killing Scorpius. He can't stop thinking about Crichton’s daughter, since he may never see his own son again. It’s a grief he wouldn’t wish on anyone.
Aeryn’s leg has been repaired. Crichton tells her he was worried about her, that he is glad she’s okay, and that "I have noticed you’re not talking to me."
She walks over to him and holds up a vial of the compatibility nectar. He puts a drop on her tongue, and then on hers.
They touch tongues, then kiss.
She turns and walks away. He can’t see her quiet smile – and she can’t see his.
