After installing some of Moya’s technology in Farscape One, Crichton and Aeryn are taking it out to observe flare activity on a nearby star. He’s pleased with the results, but she’s still skeptical about whether the systems will combine properly.

Crichton also has an ulterior motive: he has a theory that a solar flare was involved in creating the wormhole that threw him out of the solar system. He wants to reproduce the conditions and see if he can create another wormhole – and to Aeryn’s shock and dismay, he does. (more spoilers)

On the other hand, Furlow’s interest in Crichton’s research is one of the first developments in the wormhole plot thread. It would be picked up with the introduction of Scorpius near the end of season one, and seems likely to be a crucial plotline in season two.

Crichton and D’Argo also have one of their best scenes together in this episode. It’s a major turning point in their relationship, the first time they let their guards down around each other.

Despite Crichton’s prediction here, they have gone on to become close friends. Near the end of "Family Ties", Crichton tells D’Argo, "Man, I love hanging with you."

Strong light induces "photogasms" in Zhaan. We later learn that this is because she is a humanoid plant.

We return to season two with a repeat of "Mind the Baby". After being torn asunder at the end of "Family Ties", Moya’s family is reunited, and it feels so good.
