Dieter Laser plays "Mantrid," the main recurring villain and general nuisance for the hapless crew of the Lexx.

Mantrid was originally the grand bio-vizier of the galactic despot addressed as His Divine Shadow, but his insane tendencies soon proved counter-productive, forcing his master to seal him into a large glass jar.

Here Mantrid remained for a very long time, only to be freed when Kai smashed the jar, presumably killing him. Unfortunately, it proved harder to get rid of the mad bio-vizier than our heroes had hoped, and Mantrid's intelligence soon found a way to enter the Lexx itself and take partial possession of the gigantic spaceship-weapon's computer system.

Dieter Laser has enjoyed a long and fruitful acting career in Germany, but few of his roles are likely to be familiar to U.S. viewers. Early on, he was a featured performer in the films The Lost Honor of Katharina Blum (1975) and Germany in Autumn (1978),
