Tim Russ stars as Tuvok, the Vulcan tactical/security officer of the starship U.S.S. Voyager. While Voyager treks through the uncharted Delta Quadrant, Tuvok's powerful combination of wisdom, experience and physical skills make him a valued crew member.
Born into a military family in Washington, DC, Russ was raised on Air Force bases around the world. He and his younger brother and sister spent time in Asia and the Middle East before the family finally settled in Sacramento, CA.
He feels there is a direct correlation between growing up in a military family and being an actor. As he puts it, "each has elements of insecurity, each makes you adapt to change, and both are unpredictable by nature."
Russ' first professional acting role came when he appeared in a PBS Masterpiece Theater production while still attending St. Edwards University in Austin, TX. Eight years later, in 1985, he began to work full-time as an actor, splitting his efforts equally between film, television and the stage.
Russ had a long history with star trek even before landing the role of Tuvok, playing an alien terrorist in an episode of The Next Generation, a Vulcan on Deep Space Nine, and a Starfleet tactical officer in the feature film Star Trek: Generations.
When not acting, Russ finds time to indulge his other passions of music and film production. He co-wrote and produced the independent feature film "East of Hope Street," which has won awards at New York and New Orleans film festivals and will be opening in theaters nationwide in the fall of 1999.
An accomplished guitarist and vocalist, he has performed in a number of bands and stage productions during the past 20 years.
Russ currently resides in Los Angeles.
