Jack Nicholson, Glenn Close and others fight off the Martian menace (including Lisa Marie Presley) in a 'War of the Worlds' update inspired by 1950s trading cards.

12:40 AM Forbidden Planet (TNT)

Indispensable 1956 film crosses Freud with Shakespeare's 'The Tempest' to haunting effect. A starship crew led by a young Leslie Nielsen lands on an almost deserted planet, only to discover Dr. Morbius (Walter Pidgeon) and his lovely daughter (Anne Francis) menaced by monsters from the id. With Robby the Robot.

3:00 AM Galaxy Express 999 (TNT)

A young boy takes the Galaxy Express to Andromeda in order to avenge his mother's death at the hands of cyborgs. Classic example of mid-period Japanese animation.

8:00 AM Powers of Matthew Star (TVLand) - Road Rebels

Matthew and Walt (Louis Gossett Jr.) go undercover to stop drag racers from smuggling.

12:00 PM Alien Nation (SciFi) - Fifteen With Wanda

Sikes gets bored staking out a hotel room with George; meanwhile, his daughter gets a rebellious boyfriend and Buck gets in a fight.

1:00 PM Mars Attacks! (TNT)

1:00 PM Earth 2 (SciFi) - Better Living Through Morganite

Morgan gets into a lot of trouble when his geo-lock messes things up for the Terrians. Yale realizes he wasn't a criminal after all. (final part of two)

2:30 PM Making of 'Men in Black' (HBO)

Behind-the-scenes look at the Will Smith/Tommy Lee Jones intergalactic immigration police comedy.

3:45 PM Gattaca (Cinemax)

In a future where genetic engineering is destiny, non-engineered "natural child" Vincent (Ethan Hawke) must impersonate a man of better chromosomes in order to join the space program. This beautifully photographed film was shot in and around several Frank Lloyd Wright buildings for a retro-futuristic feel, and also stars Uma Thurman, Jude Law and Ernest Borgnine.

7:00 PM Star Trek: Voyager (UPN) - In the Flesh

The evil, rabbitlike Alien Species 8472 builds a fake San Francisco in order to prepare their spies to invade the Earth. Featuring Ray Walston, star of the original 'My Favorite Martian'.

7:00 PM Alien Nation (SciFi) - Series Pilot

A third of a million alien "Newcomers" try to assimilate into Earth culture, with at least one deciding to join the Los Angeles police force.

8:30 PM Futurama (Fox) - Love's Labour Lost in Space

While on a mission to save all the animals on a doomed planet, Leela meets the lusty Zapp Branigan.

9:00 PM Alien Nation (SciFi) - Real Men

George feels awkward about his pregnancy, but still manages to investigate the growing abuse of Newcomer hormones by human bodybuilders.

9:00 PM The X-Files (Fox) - One Son

Mulder learns more about his family connection to the Black Oil and the conspiracy, while Krycek and Spender have a chat and we discover that Cassandra is a half-alien hybrid. Also featuring Diana Fowler, The Smoking Man and, lest we forget, Dana Scully. (final part of two)

10:00 PM Alien Nation (SciFi) - Green Eyes

Human supremacists decide to use a deadly poison on the local Newcomer population.

11:00 PM Alien Nation (SciFi) - Three to Tango

Those human supremacists strike again, this time targeting "binnaums," Newcomers vital to the species' reproduction. Albert serves as binnaum to enable George and Susan to have another child.
