"Seven of Nine is confused by the complexities of human interaction," Jeri Ryan says of her character, a human who was assimilated by the half-mechanical Borg as a young girl. "Torn between her past as a Borg and her future as a human. Janeway plays an integral role in helping Seven of Nine adapt to her new reality."
Indeed, Seven of Nine was forced to remain on Voyager and re-adapt to human society after being severed from the Borg Collective by Captain Janeway. Now, as a crew member of the Federation vessel, she must try to conform to Starfleet rules and regulations.
Ryan, a self-confessed army brat, grew up near military bases ranging from Germany to Hawaii. She was born in Munich and her family finally settled down in Paduch, KY, having lived on bases in Kansas, Maryland, Georgia and Texas.
After graduating from Northwestern University in Chicago as a national merit scholar with a B.S. degree in theater, she came to Los Angeles to pursue a career as an actor.
As a former series regular on NBC's short-lived Dark Skies, Ryan is no stranger to the world of science fiction. Her television experience also includes roles in a variety of series and telefilms.
Ryan resides in the Los Angeles area with her young son, Max.
