Hubble’s New Eyes
There was nothing unusually
stunning about the first photos taken with the new, more powerful camera installed
on the Hubble Space Telescope. Except for one thing: They came.
Imagine, a bunch of astronauts
up there bolting a new camera onto an observatory that orbits our planet. This
is dangerous stuff! The flexibility built into this venerable observatory that
allows engineer/astronauts to get under its hood made the first photos incredibly
special.
And they are awfully pretty,
too.

Hubble's new Advanced Camera
for Surveys (ACS) promises a whole new era of even more detailed science and
art from the decade-old observatory.
