Less popularized, but
obviously more menacing, is the face found on asteroid Eros, seen here glaring
off to the right.
The spacecraft NEAR
Shoemaker took this picture of the southern part of Eros' eastern hemisphere on
October 28, 2000, from 120 miles (194 kilometers) up.
Alas, researchers say
"very oblique lighting" creates the illusion of a face.
