face of the Sun in this EIT image. The variety of loops and active regions are
seen as lighter areas on the surface on a day when the Sun was particularly
energetic. Taken on Nov. 9, 1998, the picture shows emission from ionized iron
at about 1.8 million degrees Fahrenheit (1 million degrees C).
