Galaxy NGC 3310
is a spiral galaxy 46 million light-years away and at least 22,000 light-years
across. (Our Milky Way Galaxy is at least 100,000 light-years wide.)
The central region is full
of both young and old stars that are evenly distributed. In most galaxies, stars
are segregated by age, making classifying the distant ones more difficult.
