Finally, Chandra's image of Tycho's supernova remnant reveals in elaborate
detail the turbulent debris created by the stellar catastrophe that was observed
by the Danish astronomer Tycho Brahe in the year 1572.
Astronomers have come a long way since that observation, which was made before
the invention of the telescope. That's not to diminish Brahe's discovery, however:
It was the first evidence that stars are not eternal.
