SPACE HOLDINGS SOFTWARE ANNOUNCES THE PRE-RELEASE OF STARRY NIGHT X AT MACWORLD NEW YORK 2002
Award-winning Space and Astronomy Software Built for Mac OS X
New York (July 17, 2002) - Space Holdings Software announced today that it will exhibit a pre-release version of Starry Night
X at MacWorld Expo New York 2002. Starry Night X is the newest addition to the highly successful and award winning Starry
Night family of space & astronomy software and is designed to take advantage of the incredible technologies in Mac OS X,
Apple's super-modern operating system.
Starry Night X is designed for anyone with an interest in space or the night sky, from first-time stargazers to dedicated
amateur astronomers. A true "virtual universe", Starry Night X can model the night sky from anywhere on earth, at any date or
time. New features in Starry Night X include enhanced telescope control capabilities, new databases of stars and galaxies, an
observation planner, multimedia movies featuring astronomy experts, and much more.
"Identifying stars, comets, satellites, and galaxies has never been so easy, and by taking advantage of the superior graphics
technologies in Mac OS X, like QuickTime and OpenGL, Starry Night X offers more features than ever before," states Ted Leckie,
Founder of Space Holdings Software." Dramatic full-color images reveal the hidden beauty of our universe." He adds, "Starry
Night X also lets you leave Earth behind, visiting the moon, Mars, and even venturing beyond our solar system."
"With a solid UNIX-based foundation, a stunning Aqua interface, and cutting edge graphics technologies like Quartz, OpenGL and
QuickTime, Mac OS X is the most intuitive and powerful operating system Apple has ever developed," said Ron Okamoto, Apple's
vice president of Worldwide Developer Relations. "Starry Night X takes advantage of many Mac OS X technologies, and we are
thrilled that innovative developers like Space Holding Software are bringing their products to Mac OS X."
Built for Mac OS X, Starry Night X continues Space Holdings' long-standing tradition of supporting the Macintosh platform.
OpenGL graphics technology allows Starry Night X to render breathtaking three-dimensional views of planets, moons, and
asteroids with incredible speed. Over an hour of QuickTime movies will take users through larger and larger orbits exploring
celestial objects, their composition and their origins with multimedia from the world's largest telescopes. Users will also
have the power to create their own QuickTime movies of the universe using Starry Night X.
