Jupiter’s Moons
Inner Trio
This composite image shows (left to right) some of Jupiter’s smaller moons Thebe (THEE-bee), Amalthea and Metis (MEE-tis), as pictured by the Galileo spacecraft in January 2000. The moons, which are believed to be captured asteroids, occupy three of the four closest moon orbits around Jupiter.
