Welcome Back: Stardust Returns Home
Welcome home Stardust!
Astronomy students and faculty at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa caught this image on a campus telescope that followed Stardust’s motion across the sky. Observers barely recorded the 18th-magnitude spacecraft shortly before 10 p.m. January 14 at a range of about 99,400 miles (160,000 kilometers). It’s shown circled in this enlargement from a 4-minute exposure. Click to enlarge.
