Busy at the Bottom of Endurance Crater

This mosaic from the navigation camera aboard NASA's Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity was compiled from images taken on the rover's 193rd and 194th sol on Mars (August 9 and 10, 2004). The rover's current work area near the bottom of "Endurance Crater" is featured in this image. In coming sols, Opportunity will make its way toward the interesting rock, "Wopmay," located on the far right of this image, on the crater's inner slopes just beneath "Burns Cliff." Scientists say the rock's unusual texture is unlike any others observed so far at Meridiani Planum. Wopmay measures approximately 1 meter (3.3 feet) across. This image is presented in a cylindrical projection, with geometric and radiometric seam correction. Click to enlarge.
