2004 Perseid Meteor Shower Gallery
Shooting Stars
The annual Perseid meteor shower dazzled sky watchers around the globe overnight as it sent a meteor a minute racing overhead during peak hours at some locations. Shown above is a composite of 133 Perseid meteors. The Moon and Venus are seen rising at the left. The dimmest meteors are about magnitude 1 and the brightest are about magnitude -8. The picture was captured on Aug. 12 over Guffey, Colorado, USA. For more information, click here to visit the photographer’s website. Click to enlarge.
