New technology meets old -- The Coliseum in Rome as seen by the IKONOS satellite. The black-and-white image of the ancient stadium has a 3-foot (1-meter) resolution. It was one of the first images from IKONOS, taken in October 1999 from an orbit more than 400 miles (645 kilometers) above Earth. Wal-Mart is now considering using the controversial satellite to see what its competitors are up to.
