Teams of engineers and technicians at Lockheed Martin Space Systems are busy at work assembling and testing NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO) spacecraft. Shown here is MRO’s “bus” – the central core of the spacecraft -- in a cleanroom at the company's Denver facility. The orbiter's science instruments are now being integrated and tested, to be followed by environmental testing of the completed spacecraft. Launch of Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter is scheduled for August 2005. Credit: Lockheed Martin/Pat Corkery
