The blue dot in the centre of this image (shown by the arrow) is what remains of the visible light from the gamma- ray burst detected by Ulysses, Mars Odyssey and BeppoSAX. The gamma-ray burst appeared in constellation Chamaeleon, and was brighter than the rest of the Universe in gamma rays before it quickly faded away. Click to enlarge.
