The Dec. 14, 2001 eclipse magnitude (fraction of the Sun's diameter covered by the Moon) varies from less than 5 percent in the Pacific Northwest to nearly 65 percent in southern Florida. Eclipse magnitude (curved lines) can be used to estimate the degree of the eclipse from any part of the country.
