The SCIM trajectory has been specially designed so that SCIM will arrive at Mars for its atmospheric flythrough in April 2009. This coincides with spring in Mars' southern hemisphere, the dustiest time of year on Mars. Before entering the atmosphere, SCIM will stow its solar panels.
