SCIM will launch from Earth in August 2007 aboard a Delta 2 rocket. Soon after departing Earth's atmosphere, SCIM will deploy its solar panels for its journey to Mars. The SCIM spacecraft will be built through a partnership between the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, CA, Lockheed Martin Astronautics in Denver, CO, Arizona State University in Tempe, AZ and a 13-member science team from across the United States.
