An archival image of the Red Rectangle, or HD44179, taken with the Wide Field Planetary Camera 2 onboard the Hubble Space Telescope. This false-color picture was taken with a red filter. The colors represent the brightnesses of different parts of the nebula with white being the brightest and red the faintest. The image is 5400 AU on a side. A very young and fast outlow has been discovered in the inner regions (100 AU) of this nebula.
