This image of a coronal mass ejection that started Nov. 4, is from the Sun-spying spacecraft, SOHO. Travelling at almost the speed of light, high energy protons cause the snowstorm in the image, and also are a cause of auroral disturbances seen on Earth. Click to enlarge.
