A brass-colored hexagonal shaped grain of iron sulfide is embedded in this diamond from a mine in Botswana. A rim around the grain was caused by internal fracture of the diamond on its ascent to the Earth's surface in an explosive volcanic event. The grain reveals the age of the diamond.
